Hike&Fly-Alpinetour Superlative<\/h2>\n

Last year in August we raffled off a great Hike&Fly adventure with our team pilot and mountain guide Torsten Kleint. The prize: a guided Hike&Fly high-mountain tour to a 4,000-meter peak in the Western Alps, supported by skywalk glider + harness and free SALEWA mountain sportswear. This super experience was enjoyed by our 2 winners in July 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unfortunately the Skywalk Challenge « NEW LIMIT » could not take place last year due to bad weather in the Alps. So the anticipation of the participants and me was all the greater as the first agreed date on July 4-5 came closer and nice weather was on the horizon. Wow. We were all mega excited about the upcoming tour. The WhatsApp group chat made communication before the tour easy and two days before the tour started the final details were discussed with the female participant Donni and the male winner Andreas. The meeting point was arranged on Saturday morning at 6:30 am in the parking garage in Saas Fee in Switzerland.<\/p>\n

Saturday – Allalinhorn:<\/strong><\/p>\n

When we arrived at the base station in the morning, everything went as discussed the day before. A guide from the local mountain guide office was already waiting for us with our maps so that we could enjoy the trip to 3,456 meters with other climbers.<\/p>\n

At the top there was still a closed cloud cover in the valley at 2,000 meters. I didn\u2019t want to make the participants wait in the cold at the summit,<\/p>\n

so I decided to wait another hour in the cable car station before the ascent to the summit. I paid the bill. With one-hour delay, we set out from the Metro Alpin Bahn to the summit at 8:50 am.<\/p>\n

After 2.5 hours we arrived at the summit of the Allalinhorn at 4,027 meters. As a group, we were totally satisfied with our performance. For Donni and Andreas it was the first 4,000-meter peak they have ever climbed. On top of that, we had a great view of the surrounding 4,000-meter peaks. Experiencing this view was like a dream. Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Weisshorn, Dent Blanche, Monte Rosa and many more 4,000-meter peaks lined up in front of us as we admired them. After we enjoyed our summit visit, we took a short break before starting our descent.<\/p>\n

The plan was to lay out the gliders at the height of the Feejoch at 3,800 meters and to fly from there to Saas Fee in the valley, but the snow was already getting soft. Arriving at the Feejoch, we laid out the gliders and got ready to launch. At first, the wind was still blowing from the valley towards us as forecasted. But after about 15 minutes, the wind turned and blew from behind.<\/p>\n

« Phew, what a mess… »<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

All three of us had laid out our gliders in joyful expectation of floating down to the valley, and then this happens. In a zero-wind phase, our team lady tried to launch, but broke through the soft snow right at the first step of her take-off run.<\/p>\n

As super heavyweights of over 100 kg, Andreas and I buried all our dreams of launching from here. All three of us packed our gear again and, after all our efforts, we hiked back together to the cable car station of the Metro Alpin. Arriving there, the wind god suddenly had mercy on us and the wind once again started blowing from the previously forecasted direction. After a short consultation, we all agreed that we could launch from here.<\/p>\n

We laid out our gear quickly and Donni was the first to launch towards the valley. Andreas followed her and then I took off.<\/p>\n

What a magical flight it was for the three of us into the valley to Saas Fee! The wind was not too strong there, and all of us landed easily on a meadow near the center.<\/p>\n

What a great day for the participants and me. First, it was the view from this wonderful 4,000-meter high mountain, then a mega beautiful flight from the Metro Alpin cable car into the valley. Unfortunately, we were so late that we did not make it on the last cable car at 3:30 pm to the mountain restaurant Hohsaas at 3,200 meters, our starting point for the next day to climb to the 4.017 m high Weissmies. In short, we took our time to celebrate the first day and let it fade away. At dinner together in a restaurant in Saas Almagell we drank a few cold drinks to celebrate our summit victory.<\/p>\n

Sunday – Weissmies:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the morning we took the first cable car up to the Hohsaas mountain restaurant. From there we hiked directly to the glacier below the Weissmies north face where we pulled out our crampons and ice pick. I was worried that we may have started too late and that the snow would be too soft again for a flight, but I kept these thoughts to myself. We then climbed across the glacier and up a steep face to the final ridge of the Weissmies. This last part was exposed and very windy. After 3 hours at the summit, we were all more than satisfied with ourselves. For the participants it was their second 4,000-meter peak. What a dream!<\/p>\n

During the last hour of the ascent to the summit we thought a flight would be impossible due to the strong wind. After a short rest at the summit with a magnificent view of the numerous surrounding 4,000-meter peaks, we started our descent. After just 30 vertical meters, the wind was blowing at us from the front. There were gusts up to 25 km\/h that felt like 40 km\/h at this altitude, but we all thought a flight to the valley might be possible.<\/p>\n

Donni was the first to get ready for her flight with her ARIBBA XXS. Andreas and I helped her with the preparations and with laying out her glider. After a short wait for the right wind, Donnie kited her glider with total confidence and climbed into the sky above the summit. What a moment! What a dream! Andreas was next and did a great cobra launch with his ARIBBA L. The last to leave the summit, I followed Andreas with my ARAK S.<\/p>\n

Our flight to Saas Fee in the valley was like a 45-minute dream. After landing, we met Donnie and her boyfriend who were waiting for us. All three of us agreed that we would not forget the last two days so quickly. The weather was great. The conditions were great and the wind god ensured that our wind was \u201cgreat\u201d too.<\/p>\n

All in all, we were lucky that everything worked out so nicely. We were a wonderful team, the weather was great and the yield from the two days was great.<\/p>\n

Two unforgettable days filled with great experiences – we all agreed on that.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The material from skywalk and SALEWA was a reliable partner for us during the two days. Without confidence in the great material we would not have dared to fly in not-so-easy conditions.<\/p>\n

Hike&Fly-Hochtour der Superlative<\/h2>

Im August letzten Jahres haben wir \u00fcber ein Gewinnspiel ein tolles Hike&Fly Abenteuer mit unserem Teampiloten und Bergf\u00fchrer Torsten Kleint verlost. Der Preis: Eine gef\u00fchrte Hike&Fly-Hochtour auf einen 4000er in den Westalpen, unterst\u00fctzt durch skywalk (Gleitschirmausr\u00fcstung f\u00fcr die Aktion) sowie kostenloser SALEWA Bergbekleidung. Diese Erfahrung der Superlative durften unsere 2 Gewinner im Juli 2020 nun endlich erleben.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Leider konnte die skywalk challenge \u201eNEW LIMIT\u201c letztes Jahr nicht mehr aufgrund des schlechten Wetters in den Alpen starten. Umso gr\u00f6\u00dfer war die Freude der Teilnehmer und von meiner Seite als der erste vereinbarte Termin am 04. und 05.07.2020 n\u00e4her r\u00fcckte und sich sch\u00f6nes Wetter abzeichnete. Wow! Wir waren alle mega gespannt auf die bevorstehenden Touren.<\/p>

Per WhatsApp Gruppenchat war die Kommunikation vor der Tour leicht gemacht und so wurden zwei Tage vor Tourbeginn die letzten Details mit Donni und Andreas besprochen.<\/p>

Als Treffpunkt wurde Samstag-Morgen 06:30 Uhr das Parkhaus in Saas Fee, in der Schweiz, vereinbart.<\/p>

Samstag - Allalinhorn:<\/strong><\/p>

Da ich bereits in Zermatt zum Bergsteigen war, bin ich von dort in einer Stunde gem\u00fctlich nach Saas Fee angereist. Andreas ist mit dem Zug am Vorabend nach Saas Fee angereist und Donni ist mit ihrem Freund zusammen aus Bayern die Nacht durchgefahren um Morgens p\u00fcnktlich am Treffpunkt zu sein.<\/p>

Wie besprochen trafen alle Teilnehmer p\u00fcnktlich ein und konnten ihr von skywalk und SALEWA gestelltes Equipment in Empfang nehmen. Nach kurzem Ausr\u00fcstungscheck (Steigeisen, Pickel, Gurte) und Packen der Rucks\u00e4cke ging es um 07:00 Uhr los zu der Metro Alpin Bahn welche uns zum Mittelallalin auf 3456 hm bringen sollte.<\/p>

Tags zuvor musste ich noch mit dem ans\u00e4ssigen Bergf\u00fchrerb\u00fcro telefonieren und uns anmelden, da die Bahn derzeit nicht offiziell in Betrieb ist.<\/p>

Als wir am Morgen an dem Bahngeb\u00e4ude antrafen, ging alles wie tags zuvor besprochen \u00fcber die B\u00fchne. Vom ortsans\u00e4ssigen Bergf\u00fchrerb\u00fcro wartete bereits ein F\u00fchrer mit unseren Karten auf uns und so konnten wir die Fahrt auf 3456 hm mit anderen Bergsteigern genie\u00dfen.<\/p>

Oben angekommen herrschte im Tal auf 2000 hm noch eine geschlossene Wolkendecke. Um die Teilnehmer nicht in der K\u00e4lte am Gipfel warten zu lassen, entschied ich, dass wir noch eine Stunde mit dem Aufstieg zum Gipfel im Bahngeb\u00e4ude warteten. Die Rechnung sollte sich auszahlen. Mit einer Stunde Versp\u00e4tung starteten wir von der Metro Alpin Bahn in Richtung Gipfel um 08:50 Uhr.<\/p>

Nach 2,5 Stunden sind wir auf dem Gipfel des Allalinhorns 4027 hm angekommen. Alle Teilnehmer und auch ich waren mit unserer Leistung total zufrieden. F\u00fcr die beiden Teilnehmer Donni und Andreas war es der erste 4000er den sie bestiegen haben. Dazu kam, dass wir eine grandiose Aussicht auf die umliegenden 4000er hatten. Einfach ein Traum was wir erleben durften. Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Weisshorn, Dent Blanche, Monte Rosa und viele weitere 4000er reihten sich vor uns auf und durften bestaunt werden. Nachdem wir ausgiebig das Gipfelgl\u00fcck genossen haben, machten wir uns nach einer kurzen Pause an den Abstieg.<\/p>

Der Plan war zun\u00e4chst auf H\u00f6he des Feejochs auf 3800 hm die Schirme auszulegen und von dort nach Saas Fee ins Tal zu fliegen. Jedoch war der Schnee schon teilweise weich. Im Feejoch angekommen legten wir die Schirme aus und machten uns f\u00fcr den Start bereit. Anfangs wehte der Wind uns noch wie zuvor angek\u00fcndigt vom Tal aus entgegen. Nach ca. 15 Minuten dreht der Wind und wehte uns auf einmal von hinten entgegen...\u00a0<\/p>

\"Puh.., was f\u00fcr ein Mist...\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Zusammen haben wir unsere Schirme (2x ARRIBA4<\/a>, 1x ARAK<\/a>) ausgelegt, in freudiger Erwartung gleich damit ins Tal zu schweben und dann das... In einer Nullwindphase wollte unsere Dame im Team starten, brach jedoch gleich beim ersten Schritt ihres Startlaufes im weichen Schnee ein.<\/p>

Andreas und ich konnten als Superschwergewichte \u00fcber 100 kg somit gleich alle Tr\u00e4ume von einem Start hier oben begraben. Also durften wir nun alle drei die Schirme wieder zusammen packen. Nachdem der Kraftakt getan war, gingen wir zusammen zur Seilbahnstation der Metro Alpin zur\u00fcck. Dort angekommen meinte es der Windgott schon besser mit uns und der Wind blies tats\u00e4chlich aus der zuvor gemeldeten Windrichtung entgegen. Nach kurzer Beratung waren wir uns im Team einig das wir von hier alle starten konnten.<\/p>

Schnell wurde die Ausr\u00fcstung gerichtet und Donni startete als erste in Richtung Tal. Andreas folgte ihr und danach durfte ich abheben.<\/p>

Was f\u00fcr ein magischer Flug f\u00fcr uns alle drei ins Tal nach Saas Fee. Der Wind war dort auch nicht zu stark, so dass wir alle drei auf einer Wiese in der N\u00e4he des Zentrums easy landen konnten.\u00a0<\/p>

Was f\u00fcr ein grandioser Tag f\u00fcr die Teilnehmer und mich. Zuerst der Blick von diesem wunderbaren 4.000er gekr\u00f6nt mit einem mega sch\u00f6nen Flug von der Metro Alpin Bahn ins Tal. Leider waren wir schon so sp\u00e4t dran, dass wir es nicht mehr auf die letzte Bahn um 15:30 Uhr zum Bergrestaurant Hohsaas auf 3.200 hm, unserem Ausgangspunkt f\u00fcr den n\u00e4chsten Tag um auf den Weissmies 4.017 hm zu kommen, schaffen sollten.\u00a0Kurzum haben wir uns Zeit gelassen um den ersten Tag geb\u00fchrend zu feiern und ausklingen zu lassen. Beim gemeinsamen Dinner in einem Restaurant in Saas Almagell haben wir dann das ein oder andere Kaltgetr\u00e4nk auf unseren Gipfelsieg getrunken.<\/p>

Sonntag - Weissmies:<\/strong><\/p>

Mit der ersten Bahn ging es Morgens zum Bergrestaurant Hohsaas hoch. Von dort ging es dann direkt zum Gletscher unter der Weissmies Nordwand wo wir das Seil, die Steigeisen und den Pickel anlegten. Noch hatte ich Zweifel ob wir nicht zu sp\u00e4t gestartet sind und der Schnee f\u00fcr einen Flug wieder zu weich sein sollte. Aber ich behielt diese f\u00fcr mich. Wir stiegen dann durch den Gletscher und die sich anschlie\u00dfende Steilflanke auf den Schlussgrat am Weissmies auf. Das letzte St\u00fcck war ausgesetzt und sehr windig. Nach \u00a03 Stunden am Gipfel angelangt, waren wir alle mehr als mit uns zufrieden. F\u00fcr die Teilnehmer war es der zweite 4.000er. Was f\u00fcr ein Traum.\u00a0<\/p>

Einen m\u00f6glichen Flug hatten wir die letzte Stunde beim Aufstieg zum Gipfel aufgrund des starken Windes f\u00fcr unm\u00f6glich gehalten. Nach kurzer Rast am Gipfel mit einer grandiosen Aussicht auf die zahlreichen umliegenden 4.000er ging es an den Abstieg. Schon nach 30 H\u00f6henmetern blies uns am Schlusshang der Wind von vorne entgegen. Teilweise in B\u00f6en bis 25 kmH, was sich in dieser H\u00f6he wie 40 kmh im Tal anf\u00fchlte. Aber wir hielten alle einen Flug ins Tal f\u00fcr m\u00f6glich.<\/p>

Daher bereitete sich Donni als erste mit ihrem ARRIBA XXS f\u00fcr einen Flug vor. Andreas und ich halfen ihr bei den Vorbereitungen und beim Auslegen des Schirmes. Nach kurzen Warten auf den richtigen Wind zog Donnie den Schirm total Souver\u00e4n auf und stieg in den Himmel \u00fcber dem Gipfel auf. Was f\u00fcr ein Moment. Was f\u00fcr ein Traum. Andreas war der n\u00e4chste und legte auch einen tollen Cobrastart hin. Ich flog als letzter vom Gipfel los und folgte mit meinem ARAK S Andreas mit seinem ARRIBA L.<\/p>

Ein traumhafter Flug den wir beide f\u00fcr ungef\u00e4hr 45 Minuten ins Tal zur\u00fcck nach Saas Fee genie\u00dfen konnten. Bei der Landung trafen wir auf Donnie und ihren Freund die bereits auf uns warteten. Wir drei waren uns alle einig, dass wir die letzten zwei Tage so schnell nicht wieder vergessen w\u00fcrden. Das Wetter war super. Die Verh\u00e4ltnisse spitze und der Windgott meinte es auch mit uns super.\u00a0Als Fazit hatten wir das Gl\u00fcck das alles zusammen gepasst hat. Wir waren ein wunderbares Team, das Wetter war spitze und die Ausbeute der letzten zwei Tage war super.\u00a0Einfach zwei unvergessliche Tage hatten wir erlebt.\u00a0Dar\u00fcber waren wir uns alle einig.\u00a0Am liebsten h\u00e4tten wir alle drei gleich den n\u00e4chsten Trip ausgemacht.<\/p>

Nach einem Abschlussgetr\u00e4nk fiel allen der Abschied nach solchen zwei Tagen schwer. Schweren Herzens fuhren wir in verschiedene Richtungen aus Saas Fee weg.\u00a0<\/p>

Doch diese Einmaligen Erinnerungen blieben uns erhalten. Dar\u00fcber waren wir uns einig.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Auch das Material von skywalk und SALEWA war uns ein verl\u00e4sslicher Partner in den zwei Tagen gewesen. Ohne das Vertrauen in das tolle Material h\u00e4tten wir uns nicht an die Fl\u00fcge getraut bei nicht ganz so leichten Verh\u00e4ltnissen.<\/p>
