For 32 athletes, the Red Bull X-Alps 2017 was the toughest X-Alps ever – and a new experience for the winners of a competition to answer the question “How heavy is Paul Guschlbauer’s X-ALPS backpack with all the equipment?”. The prize was a free introductory paragliding course in which the winners had the chance to „slip the surly bonds of earth“ for the first time!
Together with Munich’s Schuster sporting goods store, SALEWA and skywalk organized a display window about paragliding during the Red Bull X-Alps. Thousands of passers-by had the chance to watch the Red Bull X-Alps live in the middle of the Munich pedestrian zone – and many took the opportunity to try and win an introductory paragliding course. The winners were those who most closely answered the question „How heavy is Paul Guschlbauer’s gear?“.
The contest winners received their vouchers on September 23, 2017 at the Freiraum flight school of Achim Joos and Michael Köninger in Ruhpolding, Germany. Thanks to the team for the great support. The winners cleary had fun and definitely plan to continue their paragliding training.
Maybe they’ll be Red Bull X-Alps athletes someday…?
