Laurie Genovese
We are happy to welcome Laurie Genovese to the skywalk PEOPLE team. Laurie has been flying since she was 8 years old – at that time still together with her father. The winner of the Paragliding World Cup in 2014 and 2018 has already participated in the RedBull X-Alps in 2021.
On her way to the RedBull X-Alps Race we support Laurie and are happy to be by her side.
WELCOME, Laurie Genovese.
skywalk: Laurie, welcome to the skywalk PEOPLE team! Where are you from?
Laurie: I’m from France, near Annecy in the northern French Alps.
skywalk: How long have you been flying?
Laurie: My first flights were with my father when I was 8 years old. I have been flying myself since I was 14.
skywalk: What are your goals for this year?
Laurie: The main goal is of course RedBull X-Alps in June. I am also planning some big XC flights and some Hike&Fly competitions like “Bornes to fly” as well as some bivouac tours.
skywalk: What does your current training look like?
Laurie: In the winter I ski a lot – on ski tours and XC skiing to improve my endurance and gain altitude. In addition, I go running. Of course, I hope for good flying conditions, but that’s not always so easy here. At the moment the focus is not clearly set…. I can hardly wait for spring!
skywalk: What are you focusing on specifically?
Laurie: It’s a full time job. I try to continually build my mental strength, in a variety of ways. Some days are more stressful than others, but I never lose sight of my goal.
skywalk: What is your biggest dream?
Laurie: I have so many dreams… to enjoy life during my adventures – whether in the air or on the ground, hiking, biking, or sharing those experiences with my friends.
skywalk: What inspires you?
Laurie: The beauty of our planet, living simply, respecting people and nature, learning to know itself and progress. To find balance in this crazy world… not easy at all!!!
skywalk: What other sports do you like?
Laurie: I love so many different sports. Road biking, gravel bike touring, trail running, ski touring, XC skiing…. Every year, I’m happy to see a new season to practice another sport.
