Simon Oberrauner fights his way to third place

With a breathtakingly exciting race to the last turnpoint on the Schmittenhöhe, closely followed by Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) and with an extremely close gap to Lars Meerstetter (SUI4), Simon Oberrauner (AUT1) made it onto the podium of this year’s Red Bull X-Alps episode. Third place after 1,283 kilometers through five countries in seven days and nine hours – an impressive performance and a well-deserved podium finish!

This is Simon’s fifth time taking part in the toughest Hike&Fly race. And yet there are always spectacular impressions, highs and lows, moving moments and great challenges. One of Simon’s highlights of the Red Bull X-Alps 2025 is certainly the impressive flight over the Matterhorn. At an altitude of over 4,000 meters, he enjoys the view of this extraordinarily beautiful mountain scenery.

„I’ve never flown on the Matterhorn before. So I thought, why not!“ – Simon Oberrauner.

Simon leads the field several times and shows that he is at the highest level in terms of tactics, physicality and flying skills. At Turnpoint 7 (Disentis Sedrun) he is the first to sign on the sign board, at Les 2 Alpes (Turnpoint 10) he is second after Chrigel Maurer.

From St. Moritz, the X-Turnpoint, which the athletes pass twice, the hunt begins for the last turnpoints in Lermoos, Zugspitze and finally Schmittenhöhe. Together with the leading field, Simon Oberrauner flies confidently towards the finish. The choice to head for Zell am See on the southern axis together with Chrigel and Lars is much safer in order to stay as high as possible. The plan works and the three athletes land on the Schmittenhöhe after this year’s winner, Aaron Durogati (ITA1), to immortalize themselves on the last sign board. The impressive final approach to the raft in Lake Zell in the light of the evening sun makes the finale perfect and leaves the fans cheering.

The entire skywalk team congratulates Simon on this brilliant performance and is proud to have been able to accompany him on his journey Party
